Carolyn said, <What damages CS? I have been told that air and sunlight will damage CS. Is there anything else? What about heat? Like boiling it for coffee, etc. And also how does it damage it, like killing off the silver?>
Carolyn, silver is just a mineral, it cannot be killed. Neither air nor sunlight nor heat nor cold *damages* silver. With the low-voltage CS that most folks on this list make, direct exposure to sunlight or freezing CS can make *some* of the silver particles fall out of the water and sink to the bottom (at least after it thaws), but that doesn't *damage* it, nor make it unusable nor dangerous. When high voltage is used to make it, neither sunlight nor freezing have any affect on it. I make coffee with CS everyday. I cook freely with it, freeze it in ice cubes and juice popsickles and otherwise use it just like water. You do not need to be careful with CS, as long as it is clear-colored and made only with distilled water and pure silver. Even using mineral water only means that the CS won't usually be clear. Yes, we discuss avoiding making silver-compounds (using water with other minerals in it), but that's because we are purists. Missionaries in 3rd-world countries are making it with water from places like the Ganges river (very polluted), and no one has turned blue yet. In fact, they make CS in their water in order to sanitize it. I had a client once for whom I assembled a small CS-maker to help him with his health problems - Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, gastro-intestinal issues, etc. He set it up with 8 oz of tap water (in spite of my instructions) and went to bed and forgot about it. The next morning, one of the silver wires was completely dissolved, and the CS looked like dark brown coffee. He drank the whole 8 oz all at once (put the equivalent of 5" of silver wire into himself). He had a rush of energy like he said he hadn't had in years, and his gastro-intestinal problems (cramps with every meal, extreme constipation) went away that day. Now I wouldn't suggest anyone do that every day, but this stuff is so safe, folks! __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
