Hey! Y2K happened!.... right up to New Years eve. My brother in law made a 'killing' reprogramming computers.
Echelon is real enough [I think] On a UFO list, we figured Echelon was listening, so we just put a key word or fifty in to keep them busy. Thing is, Gov't keylogger fear 'by the masses' isn't very practical, and besides, everything on the net or in the airwaves is legally accessable without a warrent. All you need is a scanner to sort though it....and many many man hours to sort through what the scanner sorted though. Now. A key logger on a Y Fi card just isn't needed to get info and have it traceable to you. Your web address and a recorder is all that's required. Even if they had a clue as to 'who', out of millions and millions to listen to, it still takes a lot of man hours to find anything worth finding. Keywords only narrows that down to hundreds of thousands and just a little bit of coding throws that into the trashbucket. For instance: Google murder + rape for 8,210,000 results. Anyone care to wade through that for an ongoing serial killer plot? Now alter that [code it just a little] to murd + ape for 689 hits. That narrows it down a lot...if...you know what the code is. 1,650,000 for explode + bomb 2,740,000 for cs + dose [Who is doing what dose recommendations?] Key loggers are only useful for very specific targets used in very specific instances. First, you find the probable spy...then... try and figure out what he's saying. Anyone of the 'masses' who believes that thier tripe is worth logging and examining has an over inflated sense of self importance.
