Harper's points are right on the money. Maintaining a non-threatening
environment here has always been vital. So religious issues end up
being discussed as little as we can get by with, since they almost
inevitably escalate into offense and conflict.

A gentle reminder of such sensitivities is in order, as long as
everybody understands that everybody else will go on thinking and
believing as they choose to. Live and let live, of course.

Mary's comment, "The thought of washing with pig isn't appealing..."
needs to be accepted as the plain expression of an individual need,
which deserves no countering argument. Its reasonableness is not really
subject to anyone else's approval -- or even good-natured teasing,
either. Instead, she deserves whatever help we can give her to find
acceptable alternatives.

Naturally, with everybody's compulsion to leap in with responses to the
tiniest of trivia, we've now been treated to every permutation of
fastener preference amongst the varied community we generally call
"Amish". How this relates... ? <grin>
