 Why would splitting ions [or particles] change PPM one way or the other?

Conclusion: Since the measurable concentration (PPM) did not change with the addition of the H2O2 the color change must be due to change in particle shape. If there had been a splitting of agglomerated silver ions then the PPM should have increased.
