CS>distiller questions, soft water

From Ruth Strackbein,  I am still concerned about whether or not my distiller is making DW that will work well in a cs generator.  I use the blue bag diamond softener salt, but wonder if using a salt block would be better or worse.  Perhaps pellets would be the best.  My softener runs every other day.  I have been making only 3 quarts at a time as suggested.  This morning I dumped the water that remained even though I hadn't made many batches since the last cleaning.  The taste of the last batch seemed different and the glass bottle had some white stuff in the bottom.  Maybe I need to pour out the remaining water each time.  I want to be sure I can make DW that will make good, clear cs.  Thanks for advice.  Ruth
