When the jars are in series the cell voltage is "generally" one half of the
supply. That is if the internal cell resistance is the same which it probably
will not be unless he has taken great pains to set the cell geometry the exact
same. Very difficult.
The possibility of making 70 PPM with that setup is very remote. Have him
send me a two ounce sample and I will measure it. He probably is using a PWT or
TDS meter.
He did not state the initial conductance of the water. What kind of water is
he using? It all makes as great deal of difference.
