I have a long-standing fingernail fungus problem that I think began when I
used to do pottery, but I also garden. I have tried several of the
remedies on this list. Tea tree oil seems to help some, as well as
Menthol/Camphor in Vics Vaporub or other brands. I have difficulty
sleeping with the smell, though. I tried CS but the fungus which had been
only in 2 nails appeared in a third and I was afraid it was the CS that had
let it spread, perhaps by killing some natural bacteria that were keeping
the fungus in check? I tried dipping my nails in vinegar every night and
it would burn but seemed to help a little but then I started getting a
detached nail for the first time and wanted to try something else. My
daughter was using hot Celtic salt water for healing her pierced ears to
prevent infection, and I thought it might be worth trying for my nails as
well (a teaspoon to a tablespoon per cup, microwaved for ~50 seconds or as
hot as I can stand, reused for a week or so). When I dip my fingers in the
hot salt water 3 x a day I really see results, my nail reattached, and they
were rippling and getting thin but the rippling is almost gone. I also had
frequent cracking and redness in my skin next to the nail, and the salt
water seems to help that if I am diligent. I have also been using an
herbal salve for fungus I bought from:

http://www.herbalhobbit.com/HHHerbalRemedies.htm

"Foot Armor Extreme
When the conditions are so extreme that even the Foot Armor isn't quite
enoughŠ Guaranteed to work or your money back. It has all of the power of
the original Foot Armor plus the extreme disinfectant and anti-fungal
properties of Leleshwa Essential Oil. "

I have had much less cracking and splitting with it. At times that I had
severe painful cracking putting Desitin ointment on with a bandaid to cover
it would really fix it up. But it is smelly and will rub off on everything
unlike the Foot Armor.

I wish I could say my nails were totally healed but they are close. The
nail that got a new infection is ripple-free, skin no longer affected, now
and the others would be better but I slacked off to soaking them once per
day. The rippling is very slight. I think if I would just be disciplined
to soak them 3x a day I would get that final improvement.

Some time back someone asked how to cure toenail fungus. I just ran
across a site with a compreshensive list of cures, despite doctors
saying that it is incurable!
