Because it is illogical to classify something as "waste" if it is
really perhaps merely "excess" for the moment.
Putting a negative label on something, especially something not
understood, doesn't make it so.
Research should clarify whether it's viable or not.
The practice has use across many cultures historically, so it seems
investigation instead of curt dismissal would be warranted.
Carlos explained many real uses, so that would answer the "why"
question.
