I’m glad you brought this up, as I was wondering the exact same thing. I have an XP1000 myself, that I would like to retire, as it’s normally powered down due to power and cooling constraints. The difference being, it’s a personal system, and not a business system, as such, I can’t afford expensive licenses. :-)
I’ve started looking at the VAX emulation under simh, as a way to get 24/7 access to most of my VMS data, but would prefer Alpha emulation, and access to all of my data.
