Hi Ora,

In terms of "stability" I'd say that all the releases are equal.
The later releases have both more bug fixes and more features.

Some issues (eg lack of completeness of the new feature) have been reported
with the new features introduced in 2.3.0, but no stability bugs that I know of.

And 2.3.0 does fix some important bugs, in particular label wrapping on
FireFox/Mac.

2.3.1 is simply a change in the location of the supporting Ajax library that is
loaded by default.

Yes, if a number of new features are added then the sw gets a new "y" number
where releases are numbered x.y.z
The x number is changed for really major changes. It is also changed if the
public api changes, as was the case from 1.0 to the 2.0 series.
The z number is changed for minor bug fix types of releases.

The other important issue to remember is that bug reports are only of interest
if the problem exists for the latest release or for the trunk version (current
development version).

Regards,

Larry

Subject: which version to choose 2.3.0,2.3.1,2.3.x

Hi,

I am trying to determine which version to use assuming my parameters
are (according to priority):
1. stability
2. features & bug fixes

how are the versions from that point of view :
1. is 2.x.0 less stable than its patches (2.x.1,2.x.2 etc) or is it
the other way around - the 2.x.1 and 2.x.2 are always the base for the
next new major version, hence less stable?

2. are major features only added to major releases (e.g no major
features in 2.3.1 but only in 2.3)? whereas minor releases only
contain bug-fixes as seen in the CHANGE.txt?

Thanks
