I posted this to the TimeMap dev list yesterday: Hello, all. I'm a programmer for Liberal Arts ITS at the University of Texas. I'm trying to upgrade an existing project that uses TimeMap v1. The project is called eFossils, and it's part of a larger project called eAnthro, which exists on the Web at http://eanthro.org/, if you're interested. In a nutshell, it's meant to display the age of a fossil and where it was excavated.
The programmer before me, since we're working with Ma (megaannum, millions of years), used an extension to Timeline called Geochrono. Unfortunately, I can't find any documentation for it except at the Timeline examples gallery at http://simile.mit.edu/timeline/examples/, which says that "the Geochrono extension used here is still incomplete." Geochrono is complete enough to work with the old version of TimeMap, however. I'm stumped. Does anyone know where to find any documentation for this extension? or for Timeline extensions in general? After Nick Rabinowitz explained in a reply that there's no documentation for Geochrono, I began to dig through and pick apart the Timeline source myself. For reference, this is the error, which seems to be thrown by SimileAjax.NativeDateUnit.compare when it tries to call the nonexistant getTime method on one of its arguments, an instance of Geochrono._MA: simile-ajax-bundle.js:3159 -- Uncaught TypeError: Object [object Object] has no method 'getTime' I would just assume that there's something wrong with my initialization parameters or my data, except that I've seen the same parameters work successfully with TimeMap v1 using the same version of Timeline, v2.3.0.
