We are having a bit of a problem with Simile Timelines, that we cant quite
figure out.
If you go to:
http://wikitimelines.net/
Where we are attempting to timline ALL of Wikipedia (I didnt say we weren't
ambitious).
Since this is your first time visiting the website, as we just put it up
yesterday, you should get the default timeline of Michelangelo, Leonardo da
Vinci and Raphael. These timelines are automatically generated from their
individual Wikipedia articles. And you can add or delete any Wikipedia article
from the timeline (all 4 million or so). We get this.
The problem we are having, is that when you scroll left on this particular
timeline. Scroll to the year 1495. And we see here, 1495 is like 6 times larger
than any other year on the timeline. And we cannot, for the life of us figure
out why... And this gets repeated for any timeline you may construct, which are
virtually limitless. It always happens for years ending in the number 9. Go
ahead and add and take away data from the timeline (click the add button) and
you can see for yourself.
I have copied and pasted the "hot zones", for this timeline set, of Wikipedia
articles, into this email, if you would like to look at that. We think we are
missing something here, like not describing the complete "hot zone" in some
way. And we are not using "autoWidth" in this, as we wrote our own autoWidth
algorithm, so it is not that.
