Matt,
I would check under the "PATTERNS, PATTERN TYPES AND MATCH VARIABLES"
section of the man page, for each respective pattern type.
The $0 variable holds the entire string of last N input lines that the
regular expression has matched.

[Simple-evcorr-users] return the entire line in a log file
I am working with a log file and want to parse parts of the line from it
using an external perl script. I know I can grab the pattern itself but I
was long for a way to grab the whole line and pipe/send it to an external
script using shellcmd or another way.
