CHAPTER 10 Separation verses Wholeness (Part A) I would ask you to look upon each other and recognize that what you really see, regardless of what your senses may tell you, is the light of Christ. Be aware, as you allow your gaze to settle upon one another, that it is the same light you recognize as being me. I encourage you to do this to bring about a better understanding that, any time you look upon one another, you do indeed look upon me as well. I would encourage your understanding that it is quite impossible for this not to be so. I will tell you this: there is nothing you can do at this or any other moment to enhance your understanding of your Self, or to enhance the validity of your own Divinity to any greater depth, than to look upon one another and truly recognize what is there. On Resistance Resist no thought or feeling that comes to you. Resistance is based upon some past judgment you have made that something could be harmful or fearsome. So to resist means you still hold the belief that this fear is real and justifiable and worth retaining. This also means that you will continue to hold the blocks these fears have built in your mind and manifest them in your body. These thoughts and feelings have come to offer an opportunity to choose again -- an exchange program of sorts in which continued bondage is let go for freedom. Simply access each one as it appears as to its source. Those from God will speak only of Love, for as clearly stated in the Course, "God is but Love, and therefore, so are you." All other thoughts would hide this truth. Lovingly acknowledge they are no longer needed and choose again for freedom. Carry no remorse or guilt that these fears were once your own. Recognize only that they are now without value to the path you are on. Don't exaggerate the act of letting them go, as that too adds importance they no longer deserve. Simply let them go. Let them merely pass through the loving light that is really You. This you can do for I am always there to help. Your release is also my own for there is no separation between us. What you do for yourself, you do also for me, which takes us all a step closer to Home. Surrender As we have discussed many times, Creation Is. We have described its feeling as being one of peace, and joy, and loving. When you are in a mode of resisting or sorting out, making judgments of those things which seem to be around you, then you are building a habit pattern which says that you need to decide which things are real and which are not. It is the changing of this pattern which is now coming to you as a feeling of wanting to surrender to all things. I will give it to you like this: if peace is the basis for all things that exist in Reality, then how can you not feel a connection with your Source unless you feel peace? What can peace be except a word unless you allow it to flow through you? I have said that you are the _expression_ of Creation. How can you express that which you do not allow to flow through you? Creation exists. But how do you know that Creation exists unless you allow the feeling of it to be expressed through you? All things which are exist only as an intellectual understanding until you feel yourself to be the embodiment of, and the conduit for, their _expression_. And since you are the _expression_ of Creation, all must flow through you in order to be actualized. Your experience of Creation is blocked until you open yourself to the _expression_ of having it flow through you. What is love except a word, unless it is expressed? And how may it be expressed unless it is expressed through you? Creation Is. God Is. You Are. But the connection of All That Is, is blocked when you do not recognize yourself as being this conduit. I can describe it to you as the electrical system in your house; it is and exists all around you, but when the switches are in the "off" position, it does not flow, it has been resisted. Its effects cannot be apparent until the switch has been placed in the "open" position to allow the flow to be unimpeded and expressed by whatever happens to be plugged into it at the moment. To allow the actualization of what seems to lie only in a dormant, unused state, open yourself as the conduit to this flow of love and peace and harmony that is the _expression_ of Creation. This experience has been very difficult because it has come to you through the word "surrender," and you find it difficult to surrender to anything. So think of it as being a lack of resistance to experiencing That Which Is. What can God be if He is not expressed? And what can you be, as His perfect Creation, if you resist His _expression_ by being a closed circuit? Therein lies the process of separation. It is the one of resistance. It is the process of setting up a circuit breaker which resists the natural flow of God as He is being expressed through you. You may wonder at this moment how important it could be to not resist many of the things that seem to flow through you while you are in a state of being unrealized, of seeing yourself as being a shadow of what you truly are, of what we have referred to as being an illusion of truth. But don't you see... that is the illusion. The illusion is that there has been a circuit breaker placed between the Truth of God and what you seem to be experiencing. You keep expecting that, to be out of the illusion, you will drift out into another realm somewhere. There is no other place for you to go. There is no other way for you to be. You will not become a different person. You will only recognize the actualized person that you have always been and this actualization process takes place when you open that circuit breaker and allow the flow that is God to be unimpeded, to be naturally expressed, as you are only the natural _expression_ of His flow. That is why it is coming to you in terms of surrender. It is your Being that is encouraging you to give up resistance. And the way that is best seen now is for you to give up resistance to everything. Please hear me when I tell you that as you allow this process to take place, as you give up resistance to all thoughts and activities occurring to and around you, those things which seem to be taking place will begin to have a different appearance. Their appearance will change because you will discover as you no longer resist them, you will give up judgment of them. You will just allow all that is happening to run its course. In that way, you will be encouraging yourself to be equally open to the flow of this Real world to become apparent. As your judgments are lifted, your fears will dissipate. You will see the residence of your total safety. The inner light can answer any of this world's queries and resolve any of its problems. Beyond all of these concerns, the inner light will show you who you are and your relationship to all...and bring you an understanding of love and peace that transcends ordinary human thought processes.
