The Real
World
What we have been discussing of late is guilt. And if you would escape from guilt, what you must do is open to the awareness of the real world. For in the real world there is no guilt. In the real world there is no past. For, as I have told you, it is guilt which defines your past. And without the sense of guilt, without your need to believe that something or someone else is the cause of your being what you are without that, there would be no guilt at all. In simplest statement, that is what the real world is a place in which you have been released, by yourself, to never look out there in order to determine what and who you are. THE REAL WORLD IS A PLACE WHERE ONLY LOOK WITHIN. And I have told you that the real world is not at all like the world you see. There is no sun and moon, no day and night. There is no darkness at all. There are no homes and structures and stores. There are no things which you need. But above all, in the real world, there are no bodies. I have also said to you something which may seem confusing, or at best difficult for you to understand. For I have told you that the world you see must be denied. Because the very sight of it, THE VERY SIGHT OF IT, is what costs you a different kind of vision. I told you there are but two worlds the world you see, and the real world. And you cannot see both. And what determines the world you see is that which you have not denied, but above all, that which you cherish, that which you hold dear unto yourself. Those words are most important That which you hold dear unto yourself." THE WORLD YOU SEE MUST BE DENIED. That is absolutely true if you would experience the real world, and the peace and love that it brings. You must deny the world you see, its bodies and houses and stores and things you must deny all of that. But what does that mean? Does that mean you need spend your days and nights here in space and time saying, That house is not there. The sun is not in the sky. I do not feel its warmth. That person I see is not there. Does it mean for you to deny this world and its seeming laws and processes? Does it mean you should not eat, not drink, nor breathe your air? Is that what it means to deny the world you see? Do you realize that when I walked this earth two thousand years ago, I DID walk this earth? I wore a cloak sometimes to keep me warm. I breathed the air, just as you do. I as you do. I drank as you do. But I tell you truly, I did deny the world, throughout my entire life, just as I am now suggesting that you do for yourself. How can that be? What does it truly mean to deny the world? And what does seeing the world mean as well, especially if seeing this world costs your vision, all the while vision is one of the goals here? The to the answer lies in the words What you cherish and what you hold dear. And the key also lies in the one question which the ego always, always, asks. Everything you do as ego, as a separate isolated being, takes the form of the answer to one question. And that is this What am I? Or Who am I? And that, as I have told you before, is what the ego is, the collection of answers you have to the questions Who am I? What am I? And those answers form your beliefs about what you are. What is the ONLY reason that you, ego, would cherish anything of this world of illusion? You may explore the answer, if you will, as often and as much as you like. But what I tell you is true everything that you cherish and hold dear in this world is due to the fact that what you cherish provides you with an answer to the question Who am I? In essence, that which you cherish, that which you hold dear, DEFINES WHO YOU ARE. But beyond that, literally, within this world, those answers are that which seems to give you life itself. As you look out at your world and discover answers out there about who you are, those answers become the source of your life, they become who you are. But that process, as I have already told you, is what gives rise to guilt in the first place. So what does it mean to deny the world? Does it mean not to see your houses and your cars, your bodies and stores, the sun and the stars? Does it mean to somehow be blind and not to see them with your eyes? The answer is, no indeed. That is not what I mean when I say you must deny the world. TO DENY THIS WORLD IS SIMPLY TO REALIZE THAT IT IS NOT WHAT YOU ARE. To deny the world is simply to realize, at the level of your experience, at the core of your being, beyond question, beyond doubt, beyond thought itself, that what you are in reality IS NOT DETERMINED BY THE WORLD YOU SEE. And if you can look upon your homes and your stores, and all of that which you see with your eyes if you can look upon that and be free of needing it, then you do not cherish it, and you do not hold it dear. And THAT is to deny the world. If you can look upon the images you see, the images of space and time, and realize at the level of your experience that it is not what you are, and that it does not determine who and what you are, then, truly, you have denied the world. And if I, two thousand years ago, spoke to men and said, Deny yourself and follow me, what I meant was this simply deny that you are what you see in your world. And come and follow the path that I will show you, the path unto the truth about what you are. And what of seeing then, if the very sight of your world of space and time makes it impossible for you to see the real world what of sight and of seeing? And tis very simple. Tis the same. For that which you SEE is truly that which you experience. And what you are is what you have become. And what you are within is reflected in what you seem to see without. And when, within, you know the simple truth that you are not a body, you will not be tempted by the circumstances that seem to befall that body. Rather you will be free. You will be free of this world. Does that mean that the images of space and time will disappear? And the answer is no, indeed. For that demands knowledge. And knowledge is that which you cannot reach, you cannot become, while you are yet here in the world of perception, even though your perception might be true. So if you would attain the real world, you simply deny the one you seem to see with your eyes. And that is simply to realize it is not what you are. And how do you do that? Of that I have spoken before. YOU OPEN TO YOUR RELEASE FROM THE PAST. For in your belief in space and time and the world of illusion, you believe that the past and its circumstances have literally made you what you are. And without a past you become free of all that. As you stand, complete and pure and clean, without a past, you simply experience, in that moment, the presence of Love, the presence, the experience, of what you truly are. Now I have told you that the ego teaches you to reach out and GET, to obtain things. And why do you do that? You do that to define who you are. And you become identified, if you will, with your home, with your car, with your friends, with your closest relationships, with how much money you may have. This you know well. And as you identify with things, you are being taught that to obtain things is to become who you are. And yet what happens as you obtain things? Your goal becomes more money, a bigger house, and the list goes on and on. This you also know well. As you obtain things, you use them to define who you are, so as you would follow the advice of the ego and seek to obtain things, you but separate yourself further from your brothers. And because of the deep inner awareness of your Oneness, which you cannot shake, this destroys your peace. So even as you obtain more and more things, you but detract yourself from the presence of peace. And this you all know, as you smile and say, Money cannot buy happiness. It is that of which you speak when you say those words. And all of that comes from looking outside yourself in order to gain, in order to become, who you are. And all of that arises from the very essence of guilt itself. And what does that do? That but perpetuates your belief in separation, and with it the absence of your peace. And what is healing? Healing is joining. Healing is the coming together that brings peace and denies separation. And healing, as I have told you, is quite simply the release from the past. Because it is the past that determines who you are, that defines your ego, that places within your ego the demand to get and to become. And all of that is really the demand to isolate yourself from your brothers and your world. And as you would release the past, you shall be healed. If you would attain the real world, you must deny this one, which is simply to realize that it is not what you are, and furthermore, that it has no power to dictate what you are, and more importantly for you in space and time, that it has no power to dictate what you experience. You are free to experience peace, independent of the props of space and time. Just as you are free to experience the absence of peace, independent of the props of your space and time. But what if
your real desire is to move totally beyond this world, to go, if you will, from
perception unto knowledge? What is the difference between the two? If you can
begin to attain the real world and realize that what you see with your eyes is
not seeing, and realize that this world of space and time is not what you are,
and does not determine what you are if you can come to that place, is that
enough?
Many of you become frustrated at this juncture. For here in your space and time, it is quite enough. In fact, it is the best that you can do. If you would perceive at all, perception demands that you look upon your world with your eyes, seemingly as an isolated being. And so it is not possible to perceive your freedom in any sense, except to have the realization that it is YOU who are doing the perceiving. And what happens when you experience knowledge, which lies beyond this world? When you experience knowledge, perception passes away into the nothingness that it is. You open to the presence of creation, which is simply the awareness that all is One, and that there is no separation of any kind within whatever it is the Son of God creates, within whatever it is the Son of God experiences. If you would perceive truly, you will look upon aspects of your world, and you will sense that you are One with them. That will take the form of your awareness that your brothers will and yours are the same, that you are in perfect harmony. You will then look upon every circumstance from that vantage point. That will be from the place of Love, which can only be found In the present, free of the past, and free of guilt. However, even from that vantage point, you seem to be seeing yourself AND your brother and saying, I am in harmony WITH my brother. And even those words speak of separation, do they not? In the state of knowledge there is complete awareness that there are no aspects at all. You and your brother LITERALLY become One. You and all of Creation, without exception, ARE the Oneness that is God. You have designed this world of space and time in such a way that you cannot, from within perception, experience knowledge. For if you could, in a moment of knowledge, you would completely see the truth and be gone. And that was not your desire when you made this world of illusion. Thus it is that the last step must be taken by God. But remember, there is no separation between you and God. So the last step actually must be taken by you. And how do you take that last step from perception unto knowledge? How do you completely move beyond any perception at all, into the full and perfect awareness of the presence of God? You do it by completely and fully relinquishing any desire whatsoever to remain an ego. You move from perception unto knowledge by completely letting go of any need to have answers to the question Who am I? You move from the perception unto knowledge by completely letting go of any desire whatsoever to exist as an I which would seem to be separate from the rest of the world. And in that place, when you have released, if you will, all attachment to the ego in any form, taken from what shall seem like a place beyond space and time you shall move quickly and joyfully unto knowledge, beyond space and time, literally out of this world, into a place where all the words I have spoken this day shall cause you to look back and but chuckle at the silliness, at the game of fear and guilt you seem to have played for all of those minutes and days and years of our time. If you would attain the real world, you begin by denying the one you see. And as you deny it, you simply realize that it is not what you are, and, furthermore, cannot determine what you are. You simply realize that you, in this moment, are absolutely free of any past you may have imagined. And in that awareness you shall free your brothers of any past you may have imagined about them, or that they may have imagined about themselves. And in that moment, free of the past, healing shall occur. And healing shall be but your joining with your brothers in the place of Love, which is simply to realize that you share one will, and that there is no difference between you. And as you, in your space and time, evolve further and further into that awareness, attachment that you seem to have to ego, to the desire to define at all who you are, shall slowly slip away until the day when it is completely, in an instant gone. And in that instant you, in your openness, shall feel as if you are carried away, carried away by the arms of God, into a new world of complete knowledge, perfect peace, perfect Oneness, and perfect harmony beyond anything you can imagine with your thinking minds. And in that moment when that happens, you shall celebrate, with the greatest of joy, that you are once again fully in the presence of God. And with the same joy, you shall realize that you had never left at all, because you and God are one and the same, and have always been so.
