ACIM speaks of willingness...to become aware of love's presence. ACIM also speaks of extending love. Love is always in operation (as life), and that operation is extension of love simultaneously from all to all, which is universal never-ending, never-changing sharing of love's knowledge or substance of faith (the faithfulness of peace).
The knowledge thus shared is "seen" always by each altar or individuation in spirit...even when that person attempts to deny it.
Denial of the report of vision in seeing, "makes" a counterfeit, which is then overlaid upon the true report. This overlaying cannot change the reality of knowledge, or the integrity of its report, but the attempt to deny the report, which is expressed in this mental overlay, "appears to" block vision, and we "believe" we do not see wholly, although we actually do (for that is the absolute law of love, which "cannot" be broken).
In the above quote (which you cited), I characterized the symptoms of denial as "false noise and imagery", for in heaven, there is no noise or imagery according to what we are accustomed to calling these things. Instead, there is the single word evoking the joyous vision of self (heaven), in total peace...for unlike sound, it is not wavering, not in varying frequency, not "in harmony" based upon mathematical combinations of opposition...but is whole sound, totally unopposed, evoking clear vision without ambiguity, for there is but one reality to see wholly.
In order for this overlay we made or invented to cease from making it appear that we are blind and deaf to heaven's loving presence of peace, it must come to pass (in time as it seems to perception) that we "let go" of making it, and stop sending report requests to soul which deny the "true report coming from soul" to and through our altar. For in so doing, we ask our own self to deceive us, and it must obey (figuratively)...which is to say we are free to deny our own perfect vision, and the appearances generated by our denial will continue until we cease from denial.
The nature of denial is "unwillingness to look wholly upon the whole creation, and unwillingness to accept it wholly as the love or peace which it is in joy". To look wholly is to look at all equally, without favor. When we focus and concentrate, we choose partiality toward parts of creation and in doing so we cast our vote against the rest of reality. We cannot literally stop looking wholly, but the attempt makes illusions of false witnesses...which is the overlay to vision spoken of above. Thus the restoration of the appearance or report of the extension of love (to its non-denied truth)...REQUIRES restoration of willingness.
Restoration of willingness can only be willingness to look wholly (making any overlay report to be in agreement with what is already so about our reality and its creative activity). Thus willingness helps us to see that we do see wholly in spite of our attempted denial. In other words, as we exercise willingness by looking at spirit without predeciding what should result from our looking, that exercise of willingness begins to reopen our vision by canceling our denial-based requests.
Denial-based requests are generated to soul (as a call for love, and yet not in the form often spoken of in ACIM), multiplied by soul and, reflecting back from soul, are perceived mentally as illusion, according to focusing, concentration and choosing (together as one mental operation of thinking, in many forms). As we exercise willingness to look at self as spirit within, this requests that soul multiply what we are looking at to our vision's report.....specifically instead of the false reports we have been requesting (and still are requesting most of the time). The ratio (within time and space where ratios seem to exist) of "denial-based" requests...to..."exercise of willingness to see reality"-requests, shifts the collage of reporting from soul. Soul is already and always showing us reality wholly, and is also facilitating the appearances of the dream...with the first showing being creating creation, and the second showing (unreal reporting) being making illusion (or false noise and imagery...as a partial and convoluted interference pattern). As we thus look, and make wisely willing requests, these in mixture with our denial-based requests, make our overlay begin to align with the true report, and also makes us recognize the truth in the shifted "report overlay" as miracles (in the sense of many kinds of shifts in the dream view), increased awareness (in the sense of intuitiveness or discerning), and increased understanding (in the sense of recognition, realization and consistent confidence or wisdom).

Thus we see that "We find that willingness must be extended by attention to assist in letting go of denial's false noise and imagery." is a simplified way to say that willingness is integral to love and its extension, expressed by attention to it...and that this exercise of willingness is how we let go of denial and its illusions.
