Thank you Lenny for
your introduction to this site.
It has
been one of my
favorites for years and I go
there almost
weekly to read about
the near death
experiences of
hundreds of
people which are
collected there.
I first heard of
the near death
experience when
the Elizabeth Kubler Ross' books were introduced
in death
and dying classes
while in nursing school.
Then followed
the
"Life After Life"
books by Raymond
A. Moody,
MD, as well as "Journey of Souls" and
"Destiny
of Souls" by Michael
Newton. Believing
that
these
were the experiences
of these people
(albeit preceived)
did not
take a leap of faith
for me
because of my own perception of being in the Light
when I was 16
years
old.
While these realms
may not depict the
final, total
and
absolute waking up to Heaven as taught by
ACIM
they certainly serve
to break down the
presently
perceived
solidarity of this
phase of illusion and bring
things
into a greater and
wider perspective as being a
forum for
repentance and forgiveness wherein we can
discover that we are not lost but merely momentarily
distracted as if in a daydream.
Below is a
quote from a person
who was hypnotically
regressed
by Dr. Newton to
remember his between
life
experience:
"Coming to Earth is about traveling away from our
home to a foreign land. Some things seem familiar
but most are strange until we get used to them,
especially conditions which are unforgiving. Our
real home is a place of absolute peace, total
acceptance and complete love.
"As souls separated from our home we can no longer
assume these beautiful features will be present around
us. On Earth we must learn to cope with intolerance, anger and sadness while searching for joy and love.
"We must not lose our integrity along the way, sacrificing
goodness for survival and acquiring attitudes either superior
or inferior to those around us. We know that living in an
imperfect world will help us to appreciate the true meaning
of perfection.
"We ask for courage and humility before our journey into
another life. As we grow in awareness so will the quality of our existence. This is how we are tested. Passing this
test is our destiny."

And then there is this which I keep on my refrigerator
door:
"You are awake in heaven right now.
You are not in a dream world, for no
such world exists.
Only the appearance of such a world
ripples through
your mind as a dispensation of grace
in a tiny mad
twist of mind into denial that really
wasn't meant
to be serious, and yet which evoked
fear.
"I say grace because that is what the
illusions are,
a forum for repentance and
forgiveness, wherein
you can rediscover that you are not
lost.
"Consider it something like a
daydream, where you
are awake, but deeply distracted to
the point of
seeing the dream and feeling it,
reacting to its
erratic dance...but deep within knowing the
certainty of your own reality and a
gentle dance
that gives you confidence and
faithful edification.
