Um....okay..... ::::: Stumbling up to the podium and tripping over chairs
::::::::
When I was just a fledgling on my spiritual flight, there was, of course,
the ego concern about being seen as less knowledgeable or being challenged or
judged. I still get challenged and judged, even by some of those who are very
advanced in their spiritual work, the difference now is that ego is mostly
pouting and sitting in the corner because it realizes it's never gonna be King
of the world. I give it a little pirate's hat and it mostly just sits
there........and it listens.
What is it listening to? It listens to me ramble on about how there's
nothing to be said. It tries to comprehend as I talk about how the Truth can't
be spoken. It waits to hear the answers to all it's questions as I talk about
how meaningless the questions themselves are. It furrows it's brow as I explain
that the pointless thinking must end before the Truth can be known.
To the outside observer, this whole process seems silly. Why not end the
questioning and the mentation and just be? Await God's grace to bring you to
your destiny. There is a time for all things under heaven, and if God's grace
has not already arrived, it's because we're operating on God's schedule, not
ours.
We've been given tools for a reason. You wouldn't put three legs on a table
and, when you got a real good idea what the finished table looks like, put your
tools down and keep picturing the finished table, waiting for it to complete
itself. That strange, pouting creature over there in the corner with the
pirate's hat on is a tool. His thoughts and questions have taught me how to
create a life of joy and peace. His desire and longing for something more is
what keeps my vision focussed on the heavens. His wonderful imagination is what
enables me to glimpse divine possibilities that are rarely seen through
human eyes and embraced by human hearts. His pain and anguish is what teaches me
to open my trembling heart to a deeper truth of freedom.
Nothing is known from where we stand. We are our own teachers and class has
not been dismissed. Begin with that humble perspective and ask your meaningless
questions and think your meaningless thoughts and let your longing bring your
humanness to it's knees. Remember who you are. God waits for nothing. God
creates. Create with passion!
