The ego made the world as it perceives it, but the Holy Spirit, the re-interpreter of what the ego made, sees the world as a teaching device for bringing you home. The Holy Spirit must perceive time, and reinterpret it into the timeless. He must work through opposites, because He must work with and for a mind that is in opposition. T.5.3.11
The Holy Spirit perceives the "brain" and reinterprets it into the formless mind. Then through our willingness, It will remove fear, darkness, guilt, suffering, etc. and show us the nothingness and meaninglessness behind them.

al: The above is from ideas proposed in ACIM. This represents one of many untruths proposed in ACIM, as a test of whether or not one is really listening to the living message that flows, and toward which inner flow ACIM also points.
1. Mind in denial perceiving...is the reader of those words or illusion's symbols.
2. Holy Spirit radiates the truthful report of the knowledge of its own reality as us, continually, without change, and without regard for illusions or delusions.
3. Perceiving mind notices Holy Spirit's report, but perceiving mind converts what it notices (i.e.-reinterprets reality as illusion). This happens so quickly that to perceiving mind, it seems that what it noticed was the illusions it converted vision to. Thus perceiving mind adds this to its belief system structure. Subsquently, but quickly, perceiving mind reviews its belief system structure and notices it has changed...and relates this to an IDEA it calls "Holy Spirit" (because the noticing of the reality of Holy Spirit got converted to that idea). This reidentification process by conversion of awareness to ideas begs the belief system structure to re-explain itself in terms of the change, and that re-explanation is....
4. "The Holy Spirit perceives the 'brain' and reinterprets it into the formless mind...." etc. This mental separating from (hs), reidentification of (hs), conversion of vision of (hs), and re-explanation of shifts in the belief system structure because of noticing Holy Spirit....is a classic example of what projection is. Now the conversion or reinterpretation is over there....rather than over here...for if it were over here, the obviation that one made a mistake would carry a heavier and less-plausibly-deniable impact threatening the belief system structure, and by its tenets of belief, threatening one's very survival as well. Thus this projection is employed pretty much instantly, miracle by miracle, to deny and hide the changes made...nevertheless the miracles effect changes in the belief system structure, eroding its rationalizations. The projection is also an apologetic system of rationalizing why such changes were made.
The truth is that Holy Spirit does not perceive at all, for perception is mental activity specifically based in denial, and Holy Spirit does not deny. If it did, reality and denial and illusion would all be real...and they are not all real.
ACIM tells the truth (as best as words can ever do), and then also tells lies that capitalize on traditional but incorrect ideas. This dual-message teaching method disallows the oft-utilized practice of following the teacher or book. This is done because following the teacher or book cannot accept the atonement. Since the atonement is in opening the mind to see the whole knowledge of God, the only way atonement can be accepted is by looking at that which one would see, and not just accepting symbolic ideation about it in lieu of this. While one can certainly accept ideas about it, and learn and grow, that is not and can never be accepting the atonement. So whether one does this or not, the simple fact of the matter is that at some point, they MUST look at and realize the truth of reality directly from the report Holy Spirit offers continually to all alike. Mediatorship is completely disallowed by the very whole nature of reality. People in religions are usually steeped in ideas involving mediators, saviors, gurus and the like, and all these have their place as part of the dual-message teaching method. But they are not necessary. And so, ACIM offers falsity in sweet-sounding terminology, just like it presents truth...and leaves it to the willingness of each one to look and see, or refuse to look and see...the latter continuing to abdicate the throne of their own power of peace, and thereby deceiving themselves as they try to give that power away to others (teachers or books or ancient ideas).
