Communigate Pro uses a web interface almost identical to SIMS - so if
you're used to SIMS's web interface you'll recognize almost
everything in CommuniGate Pro.

I use both (I have two servers running SIMS and one running
CommuniGate Pro). The best parts for me are the level of control you
have over domains (you can even allow domain owners to admin their
own domains, and their users to sign themselves up for accounts via
the web - very cool). It also has a built-in list-server that beats
LetterRip Pro hands down (and does proper subscribe confirmation).
The Rules were a bit disappointing in that I had imagined they worked
during the DATA phase and so could bounce messages without accepting
them, but they work after the message has already been received -
although that's fine for sending stuff to null (or relaying it
onwards to [EMAIL PROTECTED] ;-) and unfortunately they don't work on the
message body (so you can't bounce those .exe attachments).

For anyone here moving from SIMS to CommuniGate Pro, here are some
things I encountered:

1) CGP is licensed to a specific host name and it's a problem to
change the host name later (not like SIMS where you can just change
the host name in General Settings). So choose the host name (called
"main domain name") well.

2) CGP requires MacOSX and the way CGP is installed on MacOSX
introduces a little problem for most Mac users, as OSX has some
directories only visible to root and CGP gets installed into one of
them. So immediately you have a little problem of how to backup the
Accounts folder if you can't see it (you can't see it from an OS9 Mac
either so any daily backups you're running can't).

3) If you're a small ISP providing email as part of web hosting
packages you may have to rethink what you're charging because CGP is
very expensive, see
