At 8:04 AM -0700 6/14/02, Andrzej Kozlowski imposed structure on a stream of electrons, yielding: >For some reason any mail that I sent using my SIMS server to a >flashmail.com address is rejected with the following irritating >message: > > >Failed to deliver your message to [EMAIL PROTECTED]: >SMTP: Address rejected by host >Host 'mail.flashmail.com' says: >553 sorry, This server does not like your message (#5.7.1)
5.7.1 is a policy rejection. >Reporting-MTA: dns; platon.c.u-tokyo.ac.jp It looks like mail.flaschcom.com doesn't accept mail coming from platon.c.u-tokyo.ac.jp. Given the significant amount of spam flowing through *.jp machines, this is not a big surprise. I know that is a very gross way to do rejections, but it works reasonably well for many organizations: just reject anything coming from all of a country, and the spam coming from there will stop. For most US ISP's, the amount of legitimate mail coming from japan is extremely small. -- Bill Cole [EMAIL PROTECTED] ############################################################# This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.
