You need to install a web interface - for example, the QDPOP
cgi-script. Be warned, however, that QDPOP appears to have serious
security holes which caused me to remove it from my own site. I am
still looking for something as easy as QDPOP, but without the holes.
If you have an OS X machine then Squirrelmail is awesome.
