Stupid SMTP question

I'm getting sick of using Earthlinks SMTP servers, so I was considering changing SIMS to use port 26 or something instead of 25 (or maybe 24?)

Anyway, before I do something stupid, what do I need to worry about besides setting my stuff to use that port (most my email users do not actually send mail via my SIMS server, so I don't think THAT is much of an issue).
