I'm wondering if there is a way to have mail that fails the "verify return-path" check to be routed to ERROR, rather than rejected.
Here's my problem: I have a separate utility that retrieves mail from a couple POP3 mailboxes and forwards the mail to SIMS. Some of the spam that comes in that way fails the return-path check, and SIMS refuses it. But since it's been retrieved from a mailbox it's now stuck inside my retriever utility, which doesn't know what to do except try again.
I've turned off the return-path check for now, but that leaves me a little more vulnerable to spam coming in directly.
