OK.
It seems that whoever the person is who is trying the dictionary attack (I think that's what you all called it) is doing this randomly from a variety of network sources.
I have a log full of attempts to gain administrative access on the machine (a 6500 with OS 9.1) and, unfortunately, finances have not permitted me to buy a router to sit behind.
Chris
FWIW - router boxes are now very low in price. Here in Canada they go for $29 (that's the Canadian Dollarette - about $21 in *real* dollars!).
I myself have an old PC (P75) with two network cards and WinRoute software running on NT Server - lovely router that allows me to set all sorts of rules for individual users (my son's computer can't access the internet after 9 p.m., for example).
I'd love to use a Mac instead, but haven't been able to find router software (I have several old Macs that I can use) that allows me to set individual user rules and that I can remotely access/administer!
Cheers
DCK
