The General Setting is the correct one. From the way I understand it that should drop any failed attempts to relay almost immediately.

The problem is this:

A relay attempt comes in.
It can't go anywhere because the server doesn't relay.
It eventually goes away per the General Settings.

I think changing it to "Delete Immediately" will solve most of this problem. But then I also may be missing something - it's Sunday and no coffee yet. ;-)

Are you referring to the General Setting that you set the time to delete failed messages? Or is there another setting someplace else?

Joe,

Is your server set to keep bad messages for any length of time? Set that to "delete immediately" if possible.

I just went through the same thing recently so I'm temporarily using my old Postfix server but will most likely put SIMS back in place because I can't send mail when abroad with my current Postfix setup.
