Hi all!
Anyone knows if is it possible to use SpanAssassin with SIMS? Using MacPerl?
It may be possible, but is probably not worth the integration hassle.
SIMS provides no direct hooks for other programs. SA is usually used
with Sendmail or Postfix, which do. SA is really designed to live on
something very Unix-like, and
Any help or sugestion will be very apreciated!
The way to go would be to have SIMS deliver to a folder, and build
your own filtering server with MacPerl that picks up the files SIMS
drops and uses the SA module to filter them before handing them
back to SIMS for delivery. That means 2 SIMS account per real user,
and a lot of coding. Unless you have some other machine to run a
database server on, you'll have to forego the Bayesian filter and
auto-whitelist parts of SA (which require either BerkeleyDB to put
their database in local files or some sort of SQL backend...) You
could n ot hook SA into SIMS the way it can hook into Sendmail as a
milter or Postfix as a before-queue filter and rekject spam in SMTP.
SIMS just cannot support that.
I don't think it's worth the effort to get the best you could get
from SA with SIMS.
