Details:

My efforts with ELF simulation info storage were successful. To my surprise I
couldn't find a "device" doing the most simple way of connecting to a serial
port, connecting it to a file. Where "file" also means the console or a
special file like a pipe or even a real serial port on a host.

Accordingly, I implemented it. Please find it attached. Either of the patches
can be applied seperately, they don't interfere.
