Is it a contest? No. The means will be at hand to substantially raise up everyone and to address ills at many levels. But the particular example you give is internal to people's beliefs and tied up in evolutionary psychology. It is a very interesting question how you would address such things even with Singularity tech. The tech alone will certainly not make them go away. Also an even more interesting question is how we ourselves need to change to wield increasingly godlike powers. This is not often address nor what kinds of changes might be needed and how to begin to effect them. The question expresses also as how our economics and institutions would need to change.
