Fair comment: my goal is not to squash anyone else's ideas just for the
sake of it.
But I do have a real concern: it is very, very easy for people to
destroy ideas by sleight of hand, by mentioning some nightmare scenarios
and using guilt-by-association.
Even if the technical truth was that AGI will almost inevitably lead to
a kind of utopia (I say "if"), it would be trivially easy for someone to
swiftboat it and convince the entire world that it was trash.
This has been going on for at least a century, maybe two centuries if
you go back to Mary Shelley.
If we don't know how to discuss the scenarios in a measured way, without
gratuitous destruction, on this list, then what is this list worth?
