A ‘From’ address represents an AOR NOT a
contact address.

The contents of the FROM field
In 3261 there is the following example:
INVITE sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED] SIP/2.0
Via: SIP/2.0/UDP
pc33.atlanta.com;branch=z9hG4bKkjshdyff
To: Bob <sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
From: Alice
<sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>;tag=88sja8x
Max-Forwards: 70
Call-ID: 987asjd97y7atg
CSeq: 986759 INVITE
Why in the FROM header there is sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
instead of sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ?
Thanks for your help ?

The contents of the FROM field
The below is from 3261, which clearly states that the 'From' in
the request belongs to the initiator/callee.. which in you case is the gateway.
I hope this is what you were trying to get clarified.
---------------------------------------
20.20 From
The From header field
indicates the initiator of the request. This may be different from the
initiator of the dialog. Requests sent by the callee to the caller use the
callee's address in the From header field.

I have a simple question regarding the "From" field, but we
couldn't find a clear answer in RFC 3261:
Should SIP client (in our case - gateway) provide in the
"From" field it's own URI - or Proxy URI.
From: sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
or
From: sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Thanks in
advance
