Subject: [Sip-implementors] session -exp

Hi,

what is the use of "Session-Expires" header in sip message.
Ua is sending invite to Media server ans MS is responding with 200OK. Ua sends back with ACK. And then MS is sending Re-Invite with Session-Expires: 30.
SDP is same in 200OK and Re-Invite.

[Nataraju]  Better you take a look at the session timer draft:  draft-ietf-sip-session-timer-12.txt.

The session timer is of more useful to Proxies than UA. The basic necessity for this mechanism to guard the session for a predefined amount of time. Instead of keeping the session for ever in proxies even if UAC or UAS gone down with informing the other entities…

Regards,
Vivek
