Hi there,

We are currently implementing a sip phone, and we want to make calls to
each other use a phone number.
Here is my question:
Q1. How can I use REGISTER method to register this tel uri to the
registrar?
In Page 57 of rfc3261:
To: The To header field contains the address of record whose
registration is to be created, queried, or modified.
The To header field and the Request-URI field typically differ,
as the former contains a user name.
This address-of-record MUST be a SIP URI or SIPS URI.
So there is only one place I can put this tel uri into, that's Contact
header field, that leads to my 2nd question:

Q2. Create the binding. Is my proceedure correct?
Say my ua's IP address is: 192.168.0.200, proxy is at 192.168.0.100, it
sends the REGISTER request to registrar with these fields:

        From: <sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >
        To: <sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >
        Contact: <tel:1234>

This should create a binding of <sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
<mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > <==> <tel:1234> if ther registration is
successful.
After create the binding, I think other UA can make call to the our sip
phone use tel:1234,

[Chris Boulton] The UA will only be reachable if you dial the AOR -
sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED] that appears in the To header. This would then
resolve to the required tel: address. You would not be able to dial
this directly and expect the binding to resolve.

Q3. Other ua use tel:1234 to call my phone, but the proxy failed to
proxy the INVITE request, why?
        INVITE tel: 1234 SIP/2.0
        From:
<sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:5060>;tag=f26388-0-13c4-384313a1-3b1f06d7-38431
3a1
        To: <tel: 1234>
        Call-ID:
<mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
        CSeq: 1 INVITE
        Via: SIP/2.0/UDP
192.168.0.215:5060;branch=z9hG4bK-384313a1-c604acfc-435bd214
        Max-Forwards: 70
        Contact: <sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:5060>
        Content-Type: application/SDP
        Content-Length: 150

I think the proxy will resolve the To-uri to a correct sip uri, that the
proxy should forward the INVITE to <sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
<mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >, but it doesn't.
The proxy can not resolve the tel:1234 to my phone, the the transaction
is terminated due to resolve failure.

I wondering why? Any comments?

Thanks and Regards
David Pang

Dear Friends of Ubiquity Software:

As you may have noticed, Ubiquity Software began using the web domain ubiquity.com
earlier this year in addition to the previously established ubiquity.net for our
website and email communications to you. However, since that time, a dispute has
emerged with respect to actual ownership of the ubiquity.com domain.

As an international software company founded over decade ago, you can always reach
Ubiquity Software under the website www.ubiquity.net <http://www.ubiquity.net/> and
via email at @ubiquity.net. However, we have also chosen to expand our domain to the
more specific www.ubiquitysoftware.com <http://www.ubiquitysoftware.com/> for web and
@ubiquitysoftware.com for email communications.

Please use either the historical ubiquity.net or begin to use the new
ubiquitysoftware.com domain for all email communications to Ubiquity employees from
now on.

As a software company focussed on communications we wish to avoid even the possibility
of future misrouting or loss of email. Therefore, although the dispute remains to be
resolved, please immediately stop using ubiquity.com for all correspondence until
further notice.

Thank you.

Regards,

Ubiquity Software
