G.711 and ADPCM G.726/32KBps can be used to send DTMF digits inband.
Using G.723 or G.729 codecs for DTMF is much less recommended.

Subject: [Sip-implementors] DTMF in codecs

Can I somewhere find out which codecs that can be used to send in-band
DTMF?

I know that it is possible using for example g.711, but how about other
codecs? I guess there is a risk that the compression of the codec is to
"narrow" so that frequencies that are needed for transporting DTMF will
be
left out? This means that DTMF cant be sent in-band for that codec, am I
correct?

Does someone know of a list where I can find this info? I'm especially
interested in g.711, g723 and g729.

Thanks,
// Andreas
