Thats not exactly true. SDP may be present in failure 4xx response like for ex 415 ( Unsupported Media Type ). It makes sense to have SDP in response like this so that UAC can renegotiate media using OPTIONS or ReInvite. But for response like 486 it doesn't make much sense because since the far end is busy there is no point in negotiating media. > That same exact > > answer MAY also be placed in any provisional responses sent > > prior to the answer. Do you mean if SDP is present in 183 and also in 200 then UAC should ignore SDP in 200 ? If yes, Can you point out where this is mentioned ? > > o If the initial offer is in the first reliable non-failure > > message from the UAS back to UAC, the answer MUST be in the > > acknowledgement for that message (in this specification, ACK > > for a 2xx response). > > > > 486 busy response is a failure final response and so sdp cannot be sent in > busy response 'Can Not' might not be the right phrase. There is nothing which prohibits this as far as standard is concerned. Its utility is a different issue.
