This is regarding not sending of the ACK messages to 200 OK. UE A 3PCC <----------------- INVITE ------------------> 100, 180 ------------------> 200 <------------------ BYE -------------------> 200 Section 15 of RFC 3261 says that The caller's UA MAY send a BYE for either confirmed or early dialogs, and the callee's UA MAY send a BYE on confirmed dialogs, but MUST NOT send a BYE on early dialogs. My question is,
1. Is it valid to send the BYE without sending the ACK (assuming that the dialog is in the confirmed state after receiving 200 OK)? 2. If the initial INVITE did not have any SDP and the initial offer is made in the 200 response, is it ok not to send the ACK with SDP and instead send a BYE to terminate the dialog?
