Hello,

The string RTP/AVP indicates that IETF's recommendation for Real Time
Protocol (RTP) using Audio/ Video Profile (AVP) to be carried over UDP
is to be used for payload. If you want to transmit and receive video
data using RTP, it is necessary to mention the 'RTP/AVP' string rather
than just the 'AVP' string in the SDP parameters.

It is necessary to mention 'RTP' as for certain media types, e.g. audio
- both RTP audio and vat PCM audio can be negotiated using SDP. In such
cases as for vat PCM audio, there is no need to add the 'RTP/' prefix in
the SDP parameters as the data will not be encapsulated in RTP packets.
If your implementation uses RTP for payload, it will always expect the
RTP prefix to be present in the SDP parameters otherwise it should lead
to a parsing error and return an appropriate error code.

I hope this helps.

regards,

Gaurav

Subject: Fwd: [Sip-implementors] SDP parameters

Hi
    I am still not sure if the SDP parameters I am getting is a vaild
one.
m=video 53000 AVP 34

The general type I have seen is
m=video 53000 RTP/AVP 34 . In my case the RTP is missing.

I would appreciate if anyone can tell me if the SDP parameters I am
getting is a vaild one.

Thank you
Regards
Sudhir
