After an initial offer-answer exchange via 183-PRACK, an additional offer-answer exchange can happen in 200 OK and ACK, if needed.

As per RFC 3261, when INVITE (UAC) does not send an offer, offer can be made in the 200 Ok (UAS) and the answer can be sent in the ACK. Is the same possible with reliable provisional responses also? ie., 1) when my INVITE does not contain an offer, can the UAS send provisional responses - 180,183 with an offer in it? <Darshan> Yes. In this case according to the RFC the answer MUST be in the PRACK. 2) If so, should the same offer be sent in 200 OK also? <Darshan> No need. The 200 OK answer can be without SDP. Thanks in advance, B.Suganya _______________________________________________ Sip-implementors mailing list [email protected] http://lists.cs.columbia.edu/mailman/listinfo/sip-implementors _______________________________________________ Sip-implementors mailing list [email protected] http://lists.cs.columbia.edu/mailman/listinfo/sip-implementors _______________________________________________ Sip-implementors mailing list [email protected] http://lists.cs.columbia.edu/mailman/listinfo/sip-implementors
