Hi,
I have been analysing the BNF in Section 3 of RFC 3966 and I have some
comments/queries.
1) Is it possible to have 'extension' and 'isdn-subaddress' parameters in a
'global-number'?
2) If so are they mutually exclusive in both 'global-number' and 'local-number'
as the paragraph after the BNF says the following:
"The 'isdn-subaddress' or 'extension' MUST appear first....."
This implies to me that they are mutally exclusive!
3) The paragraph after the BNF also goes on to say ...
"... followed by the 'context' parameter, if present..."
The BNF implies that the 'context' parameter is mandatory in the 'local-number'.
Does the "if present" statement relate to the fact that we might be considering
a 'global-number' when reading this text?
4) Personally, I'd prefer to remove a paragraph describing the ordering of the
parameters, and capture the ordering rules in the BNF.
Perhaps something like this:
global-number = global-number-digits *global-par
global-par = 0*1standard-par *parameter
standard-par = extension / isdn-subaddress
local-number = local-number-digits *local-par context *parameter
local-par = 0*1standard-par
5) Also would it be possible to provide a sensible example of a tel uri with an
'isdn-subaddress' parameter?
I am unsure of the use of this parameter an example would be beneficial.
Regards
Phil Hoffer
