Please refer RFC 3325 RFC 3325 - Private Extensions to the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) for Asserted Identity within Trusted Networks.
The P-Preferred-Identity header field is used from a user agent to a trusted proxy; and is basically used to tell the proxy which id should be preferably used for the P-Asserted-Id header , from the proxy to the other side or the next intermediary.
