yeah you are right. i have a sip appliaction server in berween party A and
party B.
initially a b2b session is established in between the two parties.

now how my scinerio works is :

my SAS gets the sdp of party A from the sipsession assiciated with party A.
it increments the version number in " o" field as it is required to increment
it to modify an existing media session with party B. sets "a=inactive" in sdp
and sends this out to party B using a re-invite request.

according to rfc after receiving this re-invite request party B must reply
with a=recvonly or a=inactive.
but it is first sending 100 trying and then 200 OK with a sdp in which
neighter version number is incremented by 1 nor it is having a=recvonly or
a=inactive.

  whats wrong in this case.
i guess may be sip phones i am using are not rfc 3264 compliant. am i right?

  regards
  prashant

I am sorry I got it wrong.

So the B2BUA in the middle generated this send-only mode SDP in the
Re-invite and expected a 200ok with recv-only SDP, which it can pass along
to the other side. Basically u want to create a hold scenario without the
end-users directly initiating it.

This flow may violate the offer-answer model, if you are generating the
offer(with hold sdp) and if u are passing the answer as the offer to the
other side.

But, why is it that your phone is still listening to RTP packets when it has
indicated its mode to be send-only. If it does not do that then even if the
other phone ignores your send-only attribute in SDP it will still look like
muted from your phone side.

my problem is in my B2BUA scenario i m sending "a=sendonly" in sdp message
to party B which is cisco phone but it is not responding either with
"a=recvonly" or "a= inactive" and not getting muted( party A is not put on
hold). Both parties can hear each others's voice.
i am using cisco phone model no. 7910, 7940, 7960.I want to know whether
cisco phone model no. 7910, 7940 7960 is rfc 3261 compliant or not?

regards
prashant
