Hi,

In RFC 16.7 processing response (point 6. page 109) it
states that
"If there are no final responses in the context, the
proxy MUST send a 408 (Request Timeout) response to
the server transaction."

Can someone help me understand this situation.

When a proxy recv a INVITE from caller , it forwards
it to the callee's proxy. Now if the callee is not
responding ( no answer condition i.e. after 180
Ringing received by callee's proxy from callee). It
sends a '408 Request timeout' to caller's proxy.
A> Is this correct to send '408 request timeout' in a
no answer condition.. If this is correct then how can
we differentiate if request actually timed out or it
was ( no answer/ busy condition).
B> When the caller's proxy get a 408 Request timeout (
after 180 Ringing), is it fine to send 480 Temporary
unavailable back to the caller?

Regards
