Hello all, Consider an VoIP RTP session established using SIP protocol. Call parameters are exchanged as the SIP URIs as far as I have observed. After the session is established voice data is exchanged over RTP protocol. We know that RFC 2833 defines a payload type for DTMF digits, line and trunk events.
So, considering that the call is established and RTP is used to exchange voice data, what is RFC 2833 type RTP payload is used for? For example, DTMF digits can be sent to give commands in an IVR system. But, what can be the meaning of, for example, a busy tone in an established RTP session? Does anyone give an example about the usage of the RFC 2833 type payload in an established VoIP RTP session? -- M u r at A r t u n, MSc.
