Is there other field/way that we can obtain the caller ID?
>> Yes

Refer to RFC 3325, Example 10.1

RFC 3325 - Private Extensions to SIP for Asserted Identity within Trusted
Networks

If the FROM field is 'anonymous', chances are that SIP privacy is being
used.

My 2 cents,
Gaurav

Subject: [Sip-implementors] Question about Caller ID

Hello, all,

As I know, the caller ID show on the telephone is usually obtained from the
>From or Contact header field.
Is there other field/way that we can obtain the caller ID?

I would like to know this, because I have an argument with someone about the
caller ID.
The scenario is a user makes a call from Mobile phone to an UA. (The UA uses
the information from From header field to show the caller ID)
The telephone which is connected to the UA is not able to show the caller
ID,
and I find that both From and Contact header field(INVITE packet sends from
sip server) of the call contains "anonymous" instead of mobile phone number,
I think this is the reason why the telephone cannot show the caller ID.
Although I don't know why the INVITE packet from sip server is not able to
contain the mobile phone number, I think this problem is not caused by the
UA.
Am I correct about this?
Please advice. Thanks a lot!

Best Regards,
River
