Yeah .. what I meant was ip address to be zero ( not the port ). Setting the ip
address as zero is not a standard solution but still you can still find it is
used widely. By setting the ip address to zero, bascially you will not be
getting the RTCP packets from the phoneB. Going by the philosophy "Be strict
while delivering, but liberal while accepting", a=sendonly *should* be well
enough to put phoneB on hold.
(phoneB *must* also support RFC 3264). You may need not set the ip address to
0.0.0.0.

a=inactive is used when both the parties prefer not to send media and thus
making the media inactive.

Hope this helps,
Somesh

        Vijay:

There is also one more implementation widely used. If you make your
port as 0, this will also result in an Hold condition.

        There are two approaches used:

        (1) Make port as zero
        (2) Include a=sendonly attribute

During call hold just change the attribute to inactive don't change the
media port.

        Dear Experts,
Caller sends INVITE with media port as 1000 to callee. ie
caller says to the callee, am listening in 1000. callee sends 200 OK with media
port as 2000. ie callee set the caller's ip and port(1000) and it says am
listening in 2000. after getting ACK, both ways RTP is going successfully.

now when doing call onhold, media port shold be incremented to 1002 or
same 1000?

        please tell me the standard.
