Sorry - looks like I completely missed your point here.

The idea is that we want to "push" minor upgrades, but we want a major
upgrade to be a more conscious decision. My Fedora 8 system reminds me that
there are "new components available", but it does not tell me "there is
Fedora 9" available. But if people think this in an artificial distinction
I suppose sipXconfig can treat both in the same way.

BTW: I know that Ubuntu does try to push newer OS versions this way - at
least it did on my friend's computer and to my amazement she updated the OS
without even calling me.
