Hi Vani,
I was able to import additional contacts from a CSV file as superadmin
without the a) and b) prerequisites. The phonebook was useful in this
case.
Can you confirm your observation?

Subject: [sipX-dev] Query regarding Gmail contacts import from
end user portal and creation of phonebooks.
Hi All,
This is regarding XX-7304
<http://track.sipfoundry.org/browse/XX-7304> : Uploading gmail contacts
from end user portal.
Consider the following situation where user 600(who is not a
member of any group) logs into his end user portal and imports contacts
from his gmail address book(using Import gmail contact Button). Soon as
he imports the contacts, a new phone book called "privatePhonebook_600"
would be created in the admin portal.
The purpose of this new phonebook is "for the admin to be able
to add additional contacts for 600".
Note that, for the admin to be able to add the additional
contacts to 600, the important prerequisite is
a) 600 has to be under xxxx group
b) and the group xxxx has to be present in the consumer group
region of "privatePhonebook_600".
But currently this is not happening. Soon after the import
simply a new phone book "privatePhonebook_600"
is created and 600 user is not associated with this phonebook in
anyway. So this leaves us with a phone book "privatePhonebook_600" which
is not useful for admin in anyway.
The arrangement should be made in such a way that, as soon as
the import is done, in addition to the creation of new phonebook, the
respective user should be added into some arbitrary group say
"phonebook_for_600"(mentioned as xxxx earlier) and this group should be
put in the consumer group region of "privatePhonebook_600".
With this, the admin can easily add the additional contacts for
the 600.
Please let us know if an improvement request can be raised for
the same.
Thanks in Advance,
Vani Hebballi.
