I can't recommend a specific adapter, but I can recommend against a
couple of adapters when it comes to faxing. The Linksys 3102
analog-to-digital adapter doesn't jive well with fax machines. While it
does work some times, there are quite a lot of fax machines that will
refuse a fax sent from a fax machine connected via a 3102. I have also
tried a grandstream adapter (I forget the model number) and had similar
issues. I ended up just plugging an FXS module into a mediant 1000
gateway to get faxing working 100% of the time, and then running an RJ11
cable from the gateway into the RJ45 patch panel that had a network drop
near the fax machine (then plugging in the fax machine's RJ11 cable into
the network drop).

Subject: [sipx-users] FAX adaptor

Hi gang,

I've been asked to install a fax machine in the little portacabin
village where I'm running my Sip-X phone installation. Anyone got any
recommendations on a decent adaptor, I don't want to make a noob error
like I did buying my Audiocodes gateway? Is there anything else I
should be aware of before I try and set up this fax machine?
