Thanks for the suggestion at starting out with 4GB. I have added it to the
parts list.

I think my primary concern is the processor. Is a dual-core Intel Atom 330
sufficent for an office of about 15 phones?

Current system is using 4 POTS lines from telco in a rotary hunt group. The
plan is to drop those onto a 4-port Audiocodes FXO gateway. They already have a
firewall in place, should they migrate or add an ITSP.

More ram is better. I'd start with 4gb due to the changing software
architecture. I've never had the chance to install on ssd's. You might have
to install centos manually from their iso and then install sipx if the
installer doesn't support it.

You may also consider how you will be connecting their lines (fxo gateway or
itsp trunks). When using itsp trunks a firewall will needed. These can be
embedded and very green.

Subject: [sipx-users] Server Sizing Recommendation - Replacing NortelNorstar616

I have volunteered to help a local non-profit community organization to
replace their aging Nortel Norstar 616 with a new system. I am seeking
recommendations on specs for a server to support about ~15 phones with
average of 3-4 concurrent calls.

I am looking for a green, quiet, lower power solution, if possible.
According to the website, I figure this would be "Small Form Factor PC (e.g.
Dell Optiplex or similar) with 1 GB RAM.". However the site doesn't make
much mention on processor type or speed.

Currently, I am contemplating a dual-core Intel Atom 330 1.6ghz processor,
2GB of RAM, and 64GB Solid State SATA drive. Would this be suitable for a
small system or would the dual-core Atom be under powered?

Any feedback appreciated.

Thanks,
Robert
