In the case of calls originating from the pstn to my media gateways an operator
trying to perform a consultative transfer will always fail because of this ,
what workaround options would you suggest given that the issue is slated to fix
version 5 , would i be better off using another SBC for now ?

Not at this time. We did try it with some ITSPs that claim to support
it but they did not work as expected.

You can hide the dead air by enabling MOH on sipXbridge. This will
play MOH until the call is picked up.

In 4.0.4, hairpinned transfers or forwarding from the ITSP back to the
ITSP results int media hairpinning as well. We will be addressing
this. Watch
